OFS Cameroon celebrating the final profession of Denise Youkep, Kumbo, September 26th

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

in you we contemplate

the splendour of true love,

to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

grant that our families too

may be places of communion and prayer,

authentic schools of the Gospel

and small domestic Churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

may families never again

experience violence, rejection and division:

may all who have been hurt or scandalized

ind ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

may the approaching Synod of Bishops

make us once more mindful

of the sacredness and inviolability of the family,

and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

graciously hear our prayer.

Message to the European Congress of the Secular Franciscan Order and the Youfra

The theme of the Congress of the Secular Franciscan Order and Youfra, “Live a life worthy of the calling you have received!” (Ephesians 4:1), calls to us in the midst of our thanksgiving during the Year of Consecrated Life. During 2015, the entire Church is contemplating its richness, granted by God through the great founders of the religious orders, like Saint Francis of Assisi, and through his Order. Your presence here is therefore precious as it provides a witness that the Franciscan way of life is not only a narrow pathway for those called to religious life, but also for those willing to follow the spirituality of St. Francis in the world, a spirituality characterized by prayer and loving fraternity. Like the Poverello, his followers continue to express their love of God and of people, and recognize the calling of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Therefore, I encourage you during these days to study and deepen your awareness of how St. Francis of Assisi experienced faith, love and prayer, and identify yourself with him and his spirituality. In this way, you will be able to recognize what is to be accomplished by simply imitating him, and what is to be reconsidered. This is the way in which you will be able to answer the call of the apostle: Live a life worthy of the calling you have received! (Eph. 4:1)

“Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received” (Eph 4: 1)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

May the Lord give you peace!

Three years after the first Congress, approximately 100 Secular Franciscan and members of Franciscan Youth (YouFra), together with their Spiritual Assistants, coming from 22 Europeans countries, gathered for the 2nd European Congress of the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) and YouFra, held in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) from August 17th to 23rd 2015.

God and Father of us all,
in Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
you have made us
your sons and daughters
in the family of the Church.
May your grace and love
help our families
in every part of the world
be united to one another
in fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family,
with the aid of your Holy Spirit,
guide all families, especially those most troubled,
to be homes of communion and prayer
and to always seek your truth and live in your love.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
pray for us!

Prot. n. 2800/14-20
Rome, September 1, 2015

Dear Sisters and Brothers!

May the Lord give you his peace!

Praised be You, my Lord, with all Your creatures

As you may know, Pope Francis has designated September 1st as the World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation. This must be a special day for us, Franciscans. This day “will offer individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.”1

The National Fraternity of Irealnd has celebrated its National Elective Chapter on 22 August 2015 in All Hallows. The new national minister is Barbara McCoole and Tony Bridgeman was elected as international councillor.
